There was a lot of hot RC Heli action this year, and once the competition finished up Friday afternoon, the pilots loosened up and really showed the crowd what they are capable of. The action continued all evening. Saturday morning there were quite a few early arrivals and most flight stations were busy from 7:30am on. There seemed to be many highly skilled pilots this year, and the level they are flying at seems to be improving drastically. I'm sure the improvements in technology and electronics are helping more pilots reach higher skill levels sooner. In any case, there was something to see at every flight station all throughout the day. About noon the Pros let it rip again, with the best action at center station. Highlights included Markus Kim's Aurora shedding a blade during a full power climb out, and dropping quietly back to earth in many pieces after shaking itself apart due to the lost blade.There was also a mid-air collision involving Nick Maxwell and Jamie Robertson during a tandem flight with Curtis' new RAVE 450s. This resulted in a Huge collective OOOOH!! followed by a standing ovation from the crowd. Make sure to check out all 3 pages of photos. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge them.
